Yalmakany & Gurrundul Artists Lorraine Yalmakany Marawili and Debra Gurrundul Marawili are sisters to Djambawa Marawili, Chairman of ANKAAA, who performed the Wukidi ceremony in Darwin in 2003, Australia Council board, Buwayak exhibition fame etc. Their father was Wakuthi (deceased) who was one of the Yirritja painters in the Yirrkala Bark Petition. Their mother is Mulkun Wirrpanda. Yalmakany and Gurrundul paint their own Madarrpa as well as their mothers Ancestral clan designs. |
